Ideating

So for the last week I have been brain storming a few ideas in my phone for what I might be able to do for my Digital Artefact for BCM114. I kept thinking to myself what do I like, what am I interested in, the only thing that would come to my mind was food, design and photography so I decided to jot some ideas down which can be seen below.

  1. Create a design/logo and film the progess over time
  2. Get people to send in their designs/ logo designs and film the ways that could create the logo to be better
  3. Get people to send in their photographs and film the ways that could create the image to be better and the techniques in which to do so
  4. find recipes from famous chefs and attempt to recreate their dishes (Cooking vlog)

Through the lectures and tutorials all i kept thinking was, fail early, fail often (FEFO). To me if I failed early in my project it would develop itself for the better over time, so I just needed to pick an idea that i would most enjoy and would be useful towards me and go for it.

Idea:

So for my DA I decided to create a brand, and post weekly logo designs on instagram where I would show the process that is taken over time to end up with a successful final product.

  • Imovie

My audience and interaction with them:

I will obtainin an audience through both YouTube and Twitter allowing me to ask for the viewers opinion for what their favourite design was, moreover I will post the process of each concept design for the brand through twitter by creating a thread allowing to further show the design process that is taken over time. My digital artefact is mainly aimed at young deigners that are interested in getting into the field of graphic design.

I decided to do this idea for my DA as it will allow me to build an online presence as a graphic designer and allow me to further gain experience and build my portfolio for future career opportunities.

My first design: Next step studios

After realising how much work I have to do to keep uploading weekly, which I was aiming at. I decided to take out the YouTube videos as I realised that it Was not my strong point and it would take up to much of my time. Furthermore through this digital artefact the most important thing is to just obtain a digital portfolio of the design works that I have done overtime, which would allow me to show to future employers. this is why i thouht it would be best to keep my instagram page, as even though i might not be getting many followers i dont believe that my DA is failing as my main focus is to just obtain a digital portfolio at this time.

So far I believe I have made successful progress in my project through the IDEATING phase, where I have gone through each component of thinking, observing, defining and ideating. I can not wait to continue working on my DA as it is beneficial for me, and it is something that i love and enjoy doing.
