It’s been a full semester and my study project is officially complete!

Beginning with BCM212, I was very uncertain about the subject as it wasn’t one I would go and pick myself naturally. The term “ongoing research project” wasn’t one that I thought I wanted to hear going into the subject, but nevertheless for the next 13 weeks I would do it.
It turns out that the whole process wasn’t nearly as frightening as expected and I was really quite interested in my work. I looked at the prevalence of fatigue among university students and its effect on their wellbeing for my research project, which I believe was a smart decision on my part as it was relevant and something I wanted to know more about.
When I conducted my survey, I found myself engaged in creating questions I was personally interested in and wanted answers from other students in the subject. I also learned a lot about how to successfully create surveys and the process in which it can be made, which was useful to my current project.
The main struggle that I had to face with this evaluation was getting student responses to my surveys. This may possibly have been due to the way I organised my survey and engaged with other students, thus resulting in my survey receiving only 32 responses out of all students enrolled in the subject. Unfortunately, a very low sample size meant that my findings didn’t speak for other students and thus might have been entirely different and a more comprehensive study project had been surveyed with more subjects.

The other main issue I came across with this assessment is related to the last, and that was time. As my usual self when it comes to reviews, I wasn’t exactly “on top” at all levels of the project. I wasn’t super behind but I could have produced my survey much sooner if I had been organised which, in effect, would have given more time to collect answers. But I actually managed to complete this task on time.
Overall, I am surprisingly pleased with the topic BCM212 as I was expecting not to really enjoy the topic and came out pretty happy with what I learned and proud to have done with a (hopefully) successful project!
