Throughout task 2 I experienced the key aspects that it takes to develop a professional and successful booklet. This was done through the anatomy of text, colour and layout. However, when completing this project several challenges were faced, personally I struggled with keeping my booklet basic and embracing white spaces to allow the structure of the text to flow making it easily readable for the viewer. Further- more understanding how to save finals professional was something I struggled with, and finally learning how to do this so I can take my document straight to the printers to print will really help me in future projects. Likewise, I really enjoyed the creation of our collages as it allowed us to work both hands on, as well as digitally, thus teaching me that we don’t always have to start our designs digital.
Collage and components of design:
Further-more through the various research tasks that were set out each fortnight allowed me personally to further develop my knowledge of graphic design and how it is used in the industry and in everyday life. the tasks also allowed me to gain knowledge of various designers such as Roy Lichtenstein, Joseph Muller Brockmann, Wes Wilson, etc, allowing me to take inspiration from there works letting me to further develop my own design style.
More-over the skills that I have taken away from this project will allow me to use them in future projects. For example, when designing something, you as the designer has the control to change the ways that something can be read in multiple ways. This can be done through various ways, however the key components that really stand out to me is composition, form, layering, colour and text styles, etc.Composition as allowed me to develop my knowledge on the ways that designers can place certain items to create meaning with their works. I have learnt that composition consists of; positive space, negative space, form, form relationships, clustering, aligning, overlapping, layering, bleeding, kinetic sequencing, white space, tone, contrast, cropping, implied space, perspective and repetition
Like-wise through looking at colour fundamentals I have learnt how to use colour, form and space, hue, tone, value, saturation, temperature, colour and meaning, colour psychology, both RGB and CMYK colours, print colour and offset printing. Through these fundamentals I will be able to further develop my knowledge through practice allowing me to use these ideas in future projects.
Further-more through the anatomy of text, which personally I knew the least amount was very interesting as I didn’t even know type crime was a thing. However, through studying this idea I have developed a further knowledge on how different type faces can be used to convey certain messages. Further I have learnt new terminology such as cap height, x-height, baseline, serif, stem, spine and ascender, etc.

Overall, through these various techniques I have learnt how Visual literacy is about language, communication and interaction and how through these various techniques how that can be communicated.
